Meditation is the active process of paying attention on purpose, in the moment to moment experience, in a non-judgmental way.

Meditation, an ancient Eastern philosophy, is the art and practice of concentration. It has exploded throughout the Western World due to evidence based research that has shown the positive effects of meditation on contributing to an internal state of well-being and in the healing of illness and disease. Meditation is the active process of paying attention on purpose, in the moment to moment experience, in a non-judgmental way. It is quieting the busy mind, the major distracter in keeping us from being present, and cultivating an inner state of awareness and presence.

In this group, you will learn the basics of a meditation practice which includes: clearing the mind, developing awareness of breath, opening to the sensations of body, being with what is and unfolding into the next moment. One class session will be devoted to teaching the Loving Kindness Meditation for Health and Healing.
