There is evidence based research supporting the effects of guided imagery on healing from illness.
This is a meditation practice which actively engages the mind in a visualization process. A particular theme or topic, applicable to that particular person or group situation, is chosen as the focus of the guided imagery. The meditation is lead by a facilitator/teacher and is usually set to music that calms and supports the mind-body connection. Words and suggested images in the guided imagery script are intentional. Common topic areas are: relaxation, healing from illness, reducing anxiety, coping with grief, cancer, life transitions and challenging situations, etc. There is evidence based research supporting the effects of guided imagery on healing from illness.
