Family therapy focuses on understanding the individuals and the interaction patterns within their family.
All families undergo stress and experience conflicts. Patterns of stress can wreak havoc on a family as a whole and dysfunctional communication and patterns in living can result. Sometimes an individual in the family may have a mental health or behavioral issue that affects everyone and is the reason for the family seeking therapy. Parents will be challenged by the behaviors of their children and teens and may become stymied on how to discipline.
Family therapy focuses on understanding the individuals and the interaction patterns within their family. The individual and family needs are identified within the context of the family as well as functional and dysfunctional patterns of relating. Family therapy increases awareness in and among family members, enhances connection, teaches healthier ways of interacting, and offers constructive guidance in solving problems.
Enrichment family therapy focuses on furthering healthier patterns of interacting and can help families establish "family goals" that embrace and respect all the individuals. The Family Mission Statement is a 6 weeks session series that helps families clarify and define their principles, values, morals, and the activities, routines and traditions they wish to live by.
"Wellness is more than having a healthy body,
it entails having a sound, clear and positive mind,
the ability to manage emotions,
and the ability to communicate effectively."
- Suzanne Nixon
